Question:I have a little brown patch of what I think seems to be a rash on the inner part of my thigh. It is several small patches that appears to be similar in appearance to my inner vulva but lighter. I am a virgin and it has been there for as long as I can remember. Do you know what it is?
Also, I am 16 and I have very small breasts not even worthy of a bra because very few fit me. I don't understand why I am having these problems, my mom had average breasts at my age and even before. Could it be because I have irregular periods and is there anything I can do?
Answer:I am afraid I cannot provide information on the possible cause of the brown pigmented skin areas on your thighs and vulva. Since it has always been that way, it is likely normal, especially if a doctor has seen it and was not concerned. I can only recommend that you mention your concern the next time you see a doctor. If this were a recent change in the color of the skin then you would want to consult a doctor, as it could be an indication of infection.
In reference to your small breasts, while unlikely, it is possible they may still develop more over the next couple of years. Some girls experience breast development in their late teens and early twenties, but typically girls are fully grown by the age of sixteen. Taking birth control pills, pregnancy, and weight gain can also cause an increase in breast size.
The size of your breasts will not influence your ability to attract and keep a boyfriend. Some guys actually prefer women with small breasts. Breasts are actually more important to girls than guys. Breasts are also of a bigger concern during your teen years than they will be after you graduate from high school, unless you choose to make them a concern.
There is a lot of pressure on teens today to be underweight, so if you have a slim figure your breasts may not be as large as they normally would be. You may want to check your weight against a chart of recommended weight for a given height. Your irregular periods could indicate you are underweight.
They are starting to suspect bras lead to health problems for women, so if you can go without, it may be better for you health wise. Buy some sexy camisoles, teddies, or women's t-shirts instead of spending your money on something you don't need. While I know bras have become the unofficial symbol of being a woman, they actually provide no benefit.
The size of your breast is also influenced by the women on your father's side of the family.
