Question: When I first started masturbating, I knew what a clitoris was but not what it did (I thought it was just another body part, to be honest!). I always thought my clit was located below my urethra and above my vagina, for there has always been a little nub there. I've since figured it all out, but I'm still wondering what that little nub is right below my urethra. Can you tell me what it is? Thanks a ton, and I love the site.

Answer: I have heard other women mention this anatomical feature before but I do not know what it is. It could be that you have a prominent urinary opening, urethral meatus; the urethral meatus can be very prominent and sensitive to sexual stimulation. Some women have mistaken their urethral meatus for their clitoris, because it is so sensitive, and stimulate this area while masturbating to orgasm. There are also several glands in this area, and it is possible yours are located close to the surface of your vulva. See the page about Female Ejaculation in the Orgasm section for information about these glands, they comprise your female prostate gland.
