Question:I would like to know why the skin near the vagina is sometimes dark and why it becomes dark. Can the darkness be removed?

Answer: Dark colored skin in the area of the vulva is perfectly normal. It is the result of changes within the skin cells, most likely brought about by hormonal changes during puberty, if the skin was not already darkly pigmented at birth.
