Answer: If proper wound care procedures are followed it should heal on its own. Minor injuries are not uncommon during sex, alone and with a partner. This is not the first time I have been asked about this.
Have her rinse with plain water, wear loose fitting airy cloths so excess moisture can evaporate (Dress/skirt and cotton/no panties), and apply a triple antibiotic ointment to keep urine away from the injury. Allow the wound to heal fully prior to future sexual activities.
If it does not heal, or redness, pain, and swelling occur and/or there is a discharge she should consult a doctor.
In the future, make sure both of you check your fingernails for rough or sharp edges prior to touching her vulva.
