Question: When my girlfriend and I first had sex [intercourse] she never bled or anything. I never popped a cherry that I know of, or that I saw or felt. There was no blood and she had like no pain. Does that mean she wasn't a virgin??? She told me that she was. Maybe there is some other explanation.

Answer: Many virgin women do not experience pain or bleeding the first time they engage in vaginal intercourse. For more information please see the pages about Virginity in the Intercourse section and the page about the Hymen in the Anatomy section. There is also a survey that asks women about their first experience of vaginal intercourse.
