Question: First off, I wanted to thank you for creating such an informative website. Being a teenage girl is hard enough, more so when you're the *only* girl in your family like I am. I've really got no other place to learn about these sorts of things.

Anyway. I was looking at the pictures of female genitals, and I noticed that the clitoris, the diagrams called it a "glan" specifically, were covered by skin. Mine isn't. I don't mean a hood, because I do have that, but underneath the hood is this white bump that protruds out of the skin. Is that normal? It's not pleasurable at all when it comes into direct contact with anything. (Although "indirect stimulation" is kinda nice. ^.^)

It didn't always use to stick out like that either. When I was ten I had my first sex-ed class and the teacher encouraged us to go home and explore. So I did. I noticed that when I was manipulating the skin up there a white thing was coming dangerous close to popping out. I immediatly stopped, positive that I had "broken my vagina". :P Since then I guess it's emerged fully.

So, what's up? Is this really weird, or not?

Answer: It sounds like you have a kernel of smegma trapped under the hood of your clitoris. I just added a photograph showing this to the page about Clitoral Adhesions, in the Health section. Please have a look.

The article explains how to remove it.

If you look at the photograph and this is not what you have please write back and let me know.

Her Reply: Yeah, that's it alright. I'm glad I asked, instead of just ignoring it some more. What was it I was just saying about how informative this site is? There's so much stuff I don't know even about my own body. Health classes in this country are a joke. Thanks for explaining this to me. I'll do my best to remedy the situation. ^.^
